Cllr Jenny Brathwaite

Jennifer was elected as a councillor for Gipsy Hill ward in May 2010 and re-elected in 2014.  A housing solicitor who ran her own law firm in West Norwood, a mum of two and a long standing member of the Labour party, Jennifer is working hard to continue Labour’s investment in improvements in our area.

Working in housing law has given Jennifer first hand experience of working with tenants and leaseholders and she is committed to making sure that everyone in our community has access to decent and well-maintained housing.

As the mum of two teenagers and a former member of Lambeth’s Education Appeals Panel, Jennifer is very aware of both the challenges and improvements for schools and young people in our area. Jenny is proud that Labour has invested in education – building the new Elmgreen Secondary School with local parents and doubling the number of places available at Kingswood from September 2010 for local children. She’s delighted that, under Labour, Lambeth has boosted the spending on youth services: giving young people more to do and helping to keep them out of trouble.

Jenny says:

“I’m a solicitor specialising in housing rights and I previously ran my own law firm in West Norwood. I know that many tenants and leaseholdrs feel let down about the condition of housing and I’ll work hard to fight your corner to make sure that the coalition government hands over the money to improve Lambeth Living homes as promised. I’m also a mum of two and sat on Lambeth’s Education appeals panel before being elected in May 2010. I can see the good work that Labour’s done to improve local schools and increase the number of places for families here in Norwood. I don’t want to see the progress on schools and the extra funding for places put at risk by Tory  and Lib Dem cuts on education and I’ll continue to campaign for improvements in services for everyone in Norwood.”
