West Norwood Swimming Pool

Councillors Matthew Bennett & Niranjan Francis visited the building site for the West Norwood swimming pool, health & leisure centre this morning.

Building work started earlier this year after a long local campaign for a leisure centre in West Norwood & was one of our key manifesto pledges in 2010. The Norwood Hall development will have a swimming pool, gym, health centre, GP surgery, dentists, dance studio & community space for local amenity groups to use. Rapid progress has been made over recent months and we were assured that the building is on track to open towards the end of 2013, providing a real boost to the local community and creating scores of new local jobs.

The site is visible from trains just after they leave West Norwood station heading towards either Tulse Hill or Streatham Hill by looking out of the left hand side of the train – which means that you can check progress every day if your commute takes you that way.
