455 Police Officers will vanish from our streets over the next few years after the Conservatives voted to back Boris Johnson’s police cuts. The Tories are soft on crime, keen on cuts.
Labour increased the number of police officers and introduced PCSOs to bring crime and anti-social behaviour down. Progress is being made and crime is down in Gipsy Hill by 16% since 2006. A recent spike in car crime in our area is being countered with extra resources diverted from the north of the borough to strengthen our Neighbourhood Police team.
The Tory policy of taking police off the street is madness. These cuts risk undermining the successes of Neighbourhood policing in Gipsy Hill & West Norwood and Labour has strongly opposed Boris’ cuts.
