Residents in Upper Norwood, Gipsy Hill and West Norwood may be aware of the campaign to bring a cinema back into the area.
Picturehouse cinemas had wanted to buy the old Gala Bingo site in Crystal Palace to restore it as a cinema. However, they were outbid by a Christian group who want to change the use of the building from leisure to a church. We want to see the building retained for leisure use and hope that the church can find another property in which to worship.
Labour controlled Lambeth council and local MP Tessa Jowell have both written to Bromley Council to express their strong support for the Crystal Palace Cinema campaign & to voice their concerns about the proposed change in use of the old Gala Bingo site from leisure services to a church.
The campaign has the overwhelming support of thousands of local residents and businesses and Bromley Council’s planning committee meets to make a decision on the 17th December at 7pm at Bromley Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, BR1 3HU.
The Campaign has laid on buses which will leave at 5.30pm from the #3 bus stop on Crystal Palace parade for people wanting to go along to the meeting £4 a ticket (waged) £2 a ticket (unwaged).
